Jim Seebock was elected to the Henderson City Council via special election in April 2023, representing Ward I, which includes the historic Water Street district.

Councilman Seebock serves with the mayor and his fellow councilmembers as the legislative branch for the Henderson community. Their responsibilities include setting policies and making decisions concerning various aspects of local government for Nevada’s second largest city, recognized as being one of the safest cities and best places to live in the nation. He represents the City of Henderson on the Southern Nevada District Board of Health.

Councilman Seebock first moved to Henderson as a child in 1986, where he attended Burkholder Junior High School and graduated from Basic High School.

In 1993, he was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Over the course of his career, he held positions such as Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, K9 Handler, K9 Sergeant, Counter Terrorism Lieutenant, and held Captain level positions over different sub-stations, Organizational Development, Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, and SWAT. Seebock’s leadership abilities were highlighted by his promotion to Deputy Chief in 2020, and he was charged to lead three different divisions--Community Policing, Tourist Safety, and Detention Services.

During times of crisis, the LVMPD established a Department Operations Center to oversee and lead large critical events that impacted our community such as forest fires, officers being killed, or other unforeseen events. Jim was charged with leading this operation center on numerous occasions including the Las Vegas Mass Shooting of 1 October. He has been the recipient of the Unit Medal of Valor as well as several Meritorious Medals of service. In 2023 he was promoted to Assistant Sheriff, and he retired in June 2024 after a 30-year career.

While employed at the LVMPD, Jim went back to school and obtained an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from the College of Southern Nevada, a Bachelor of Arts from Nevada State College for Public Administration-Law Enforcement, and a Master of Arts from the Naval Post Graduate School for Security Studies.

Councilman Seebock is proud to live in Henderson with his wife of 27 years, and their teenage twins (boy and girl). He enjoys hiking the 220 miles of trails in our community and the occasional beach getaway with his family.
